ASPIRA Workforce Assistant Manager Essential Functions:

The Youth Program Workforce Manager Assistant will provide essential support to the Workforce Manager and collaborate closely with the Program Director to ensure the successful implementation of workforce service activities, particularly with DFSS – Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and Chicago Youth Service Coops (CYSC) Chicagobility programs. This role involves various responsibilities, including coordinating the employment skills curriculum, developing relationships with local businesses, recruiting for open positions, and marketing the program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities, prioritize excellence, and work urgently to provide workforce development opportunities for all youth ages 16-24, guiding them toward success and fulfillment in their careers and lives.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in the recruitment process for program staff, including posting job openings,
  • screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks.
  • Coordinate training sessions and workshops for program staff to enhance their skills,
  • knowledge, and understanding of youth development principles and program goals.
  • Support the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they receive the necessary training, orientation, and resources to perform their roles effectively.
  • Coordinate with trainers, facilitators, and interns to ensure streamlined service delivery and track the progress of youth ages 16-24.
  • Assist youth ages 16-24 in completing training programs and provide support with cover letters, resumes, time management, job searches, and applications.
  • Develop and implement workforce development programs and training, including creative summer youth and young adult work program ideas.
  • Maintain records, monitor outcomes, and produce progress reports as required.
  • Collaborate with ASPIRA staff, partner agencies, and community resource providers, advocating for youth ages 16-24 as needed.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, and scheduling staff and program participants for DFSS -SYEP, CYSC Chicagobility programs, and other initiatives.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Workforce Development Manager, including organizing meetings, maintaining documentation, and preparing reports on workforce activities and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of workforce development experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of workforce development principles and practices.
  • Ability to build rapport with youth ages 16-24 from diverse backgrounds while maintaining appropriate boundaries and accountability standards.
  • Proficiency in conducting general assessments of mental health, literacy, and job skills and identifying community resources to meet the individual needs of youth ages 16-24.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local programs related to workforce development, employment, health, and mental health support.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage youth ages 16-24, utilizing techniques such as Motivational Interviewing and behavior change theories.

Compensation: $45,000.00 with Benefits.
