Aspira Case Manager –

The employee serves as a Case Manager for students with disabilities. The Case Manager facilitates professional development related to the school and district’s instruction and curriculum goals aligned with demonstrated instructional/professional needs.

The Case Manager coaches and supports teachers and support staff in identifying, developing, and implementing curriculum, assessment, and instructional strategies designed to improve the learning of students with disabilities.

The Case Manager shares in the responsibility for student safety, collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Develops and facilitates professional learning opportunities that promote achievement for all special education students.

● Designs this professional development in special education strategies and best practices for administrators, teachers, and support staff in areas including curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and working with students with challenging behavior(s).

● Collaborates with and coaches assigned classroom teachers in planning for specific student learning outcomes based on assessed needs of individual students and the use of data and information to determine each student’s current knowledge and skill level, support student learning goals, and assess student progress. The assessment of student needs includes the use of district approved assessment tools and strategies in addition to the teachers own professional practice.

● Models best practices by conducting classroom instruction methods either for direct learning by students or for demonstrating effective intervention and teaching practices for teachers and support staff.

● Participates in case conferences in case management of students with disabilities either as the direct case manager or to support the development of case management skills among specialists. (i.e., annual IEP meetings, re-evaluations, eligibility meetings, progress monitoring, maintaining confidentiality, etc.)

● Works collaboratively in a professional learning community with other teachers, support staff, and others as appropriate, in addressing the needs of students and implementing effective teaching and learning practices.

● Assists teachers and support staff in using research-based instructional and learning strategies and content specific, differentiated instruction including assisting teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons. This might include providing consultation to school staff working with students with disabilities in the following areas: instruction, assessment, curriculum, communication, behavior, organization, use of visual systems, self-management, sensory needs, social skills and the design of the physical environment in the classroom.

● Develops, obtains, maintains and provides student data related to the specific content area(s). The Case Manager provides leadership in assessing the data, and communicating the results to school team members and may serve as the campus College Board SSD designee.

● Integrates district approved and/or required technology into planning, learning, progress reporting, and required record-keeping activities.

● Applies a variety of instructional strategies to facilitate team effectiveness, collaboration, problem solving, leadership, meeting management, and conflict resolution.

● Constantly observant of the needs and challenges of students and promptly engages an administrator or appropriate educational staff associates when the teacher suspects or reasonably believes that a student is at risk or in danger due to such issues as bullying, sexual harassment/misconduct, depression or suicide ideation, or academic failure. The Case Manager serves as a positive role model for students and school staff and models the behaviors that are expected of students and teachers.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of a certification program at an accredited college or university, and valid state certification(s) in the specific content area(s) of Special Education and English Language Learners.

Experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.

IL PEL in teaching with a current registered Illinois PEL for Learning Behavior Specialist unlimited or LBSI.

  • Two or more years of experience in special education working as a Case Manager
  • Completion of a Bachelors or Masters degree in Education
  • A valid Professional Educator License (PEL) in one of the following areas: Special Education (PK-Age 21) endorsement or School Support Personnel endorsement with a supervisory endorsement
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ English) preferred

Salary Range Posted: Based on Experience and Education per the Collective Bargain Agreement.

Pay: $62,475.00 – $80,402.00 per year
