The ASPIRA of Illinois Youth Center has partnered with Heavy Weight Champion boxer Fres Oquendo and his team at the Fres Oquendo Boxing Academy​​​​​​​. (FOBA) to train students from the ASPIRA of Illinois school network. This three step program approach focuses on mentoring students through the “Beyond the Barrio” curriculum, mandatory tutoring support, and real life experiences from their boxing coaches while in and out of the ring through training.

ASPIRA students have the opportunity to train with FOBA at ASPIRA Haugan Middle School while our High School students train at the ASPIRA Antonia Pantoja High School. All students have the opportunity to train with professional heavy weight boxer Fres Oquendo, Hall of Fame boxer Luis Mateo, including Nate Jones, and Jose Frades.
