Position Summary
Aspira Charter Schools Provides a holistic approach to education while preparing our students for success in high school. The Licensed School Nurse will be responsible for providing nursing care and support to students at various campuses. This includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and services to meet the physical, emotional, medical, and educational needs of students.

ASPIRA School Nurse Essential Functions:
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to students with health problems, including first aid, medication administration, and emergency care.
- Develop and maintain individualized health care plans for students with chronic health conditions, allergies, and other health issues.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to create a safe and healthy school environment for students.
- Conduct health screenings, immunization compliance checks, and communicable disease monitoring in accordance with state and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records, including student health histories, immunization records, and medication logs.
- Provide health education to students, families, and staff on topics such as nutrition, exercise, and disease prevention.
- Participate in the development and implementation of school health policies and procedures.
- Participate in the development of medical, safety, 504, and IEP team meetings to contribute medical expertise.
- Maintain confidentiality of student health information and comply with all HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
- Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with the central administration, parents, and representatives of resource agencies
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, and agencies associated with the school
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois.
- Certification as a school nurse by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) required.
- Minimum of one year of experience in pediatric or school nursing.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.
- Must be able to travel between campuses and have reliable transportation.
- Experience in writing medical plans, 504s, and IEPs to address medical needs.
- Experience in SSM, Aspen is preferred.
- Bilingual, Spanish preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Work Monday – Friday. No Holidays.
